Fold & Staple
Overview
The paper is folded in half and stapled at 2 positions in the center. This function, which creates a magazine-like form, is available to create a spread document.
To manually perform Saddle Stitch or Half-Hold for a booklet original, sort pages of the original in the reverse order after referencing the following.

Tips
- The available paper size or number of sheets varies depending on the mounted optional devices. For details, refer to Optional Part Names and Specifications for Paper Output.
- The folded and stapled sheets are output to the Folder tray.
Tips
- PostInserter PI-502: The Lower tray can be used as a paper tray. The Upper tray is not available.
- FoldingUnit FD-503: The Upper tray can be used as a paper tray. The Lower tray is not available.

Procedure (for PostInserter PI-502)

Load paper into the Lower tray of PostInserter PI-502, and align the Side guides with the paper.
To load paper, turn up the surface that will be the outside once it is stapled.

Press the Staple mode selection key [2] on the Post inserter control panel to turn on the Fold & Staple mode LED lamp [1].

Open the Paper delivery handle of Folder tray.

Press the Start/Stop key [3] to start processing.
Procedure (for FoldingUnit FD-503)

Load paper into the Upper tray of Post inserter of FoldingUnit FD-503, and align the Side guides with the paper.
To load paper, turn up the surface that will be the inside once it is stapled.

Press the Staple selection key [1] on the Post inserter control panel to turn on the Fold & Staple mode LED lamp.
For Fold & Staple, pull out Conveyance belt.
NOTICE
- When using the Conveyance belt of SaddleStitcher SD-506, be sure to set up the stand under the tray.
- Each output tray has a capacity limit. Be careful not to exceed the limit, otherwise unexpected problems may occur.
- Never push the tray to its original position while the stand of the Conveyance belt of SaddleStitcher SD-506 remains set up.

Press the Start/Stop key [1] to start processing.
If the machine stops because double feeding was detected but did not actually occur, press Multi-feed detection key [2] to light up the Double Feed Detection OFF indicator LED.
To stop processing, press Start/Stop key [1] again.
