This machine has the Network Scanner features.
You can send the scan data as an E-mail attachment file, upload to an FTP server, SMB server, or WebDAV server, or save to an HDD or USB flash drive. The scan data saved to the HDD can be imported to network-connected computers by using the TWAIN-compliant applications and the HDD TWAIN driver.
By performing a scan operation by using the Web service function from a computer on the network, the scan data can be sent to the computer.
The scan data is sent in the following file format:
PDF, PDF/A-1a*, PDF/A-1b*
Compact PDF, Compact PDF/A-1a*, and Compact PDF/A-1b*
TIFF
XPS
JPEG
Also, when scanning data, configure the following items: Original Setting, Quality Adj., Zoom, Application, Color, Color Space, Scan Size, Resolution (dpi), Simplex/Duplex, and File Type.
On the SCAN screen, specify a destination to send scanned data. Then, configure scan settings for the scanned data to carry out scanning. Scanned data is then sent to the specified destination.
* When sending data as a PDF file, you can create a PDF file based on PDF/A.
PDF/A is an international standard (ISO19005) aimed at storing documents for long periods. This standard defines various requirements and prohibited items for a PDF file to be created.
PDF/A provides the following two compliance levels. This machine supports both of these compliance levels.
PDF/A-1b: Requires that the same visual quality should be obtained even if a PDF file is displayed using any type of hardware or software and that meta data is to be embedded in a PDF file. This standard also prohibits the encryption and LZW compression as well as use of transparent text.
PDF/A-1a: Requires that tags are to be added to describe a logical structure of a document and that fonts are to be embedded in a PDF file, in addition to the requirements defined in PDF/A-1b.
If a PDF file is created based on PDF/A in this machine, it cannot be encrypted.
When the Enhanced Security Mode is ON, a job is unacquirable by using applications compatible with TWAIN and HDD TWAIN driver. For details, contact your administrator.
